Amadeus University, Amizi has been granted a Full Operational Licence by the National Universities Commission, completing the regulatory progression it began with its provisional licensing in June 2023.

The licence was presented to a delegation of the University’s officials, led by the Chairman, Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

The award follows a Resource Verification exercise conducted by a Commission team at the University’s campus from 1 to 3 March 2026, in assessment of the institution’s academic facilities, staffing and governance structures.

Professor Ribadu welcomed the delegation and congratulated the University on the attainment, commending the Board on the progress recorded since the institution’s establishment.

Responding on behalf of the Board, Dr. Nwabunka said the grant of the licence was an affirmation of the gains the University had made. He assured the Executive Secretary that Amadeus University would uphold the standards set by the Commission, and expressed the Board’s determination that the institution become a reference point in Nigerian tertiary education.

The University has expanded considerably since it began academic activities in September 2024 with 19 degree programmes under four faculties. It now offers twenty-two degree programmes across seven faculties and colleges, following the Commission’s approval for the commencement of programmes in Medicine, Pharmacy and Law and the establishment of the College of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Law.

The Council of Legal Education has separately granted approval for the University to commence its LL.B programme, while engagement with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria continues towards the admission of the University’s Medicine students into clinical studies.

Having held two matriculation ceremonies, Amadeus University commences its third academic year in October 2026.
